A terrace is my 2nd or 3rd favorite place to hang out on sunny days. The beach is always number one and I guess our balcony is number 2. Since the terraces are finally opening again today, I want to share the best terraces in The Hague with you. In The Hague, you can find many nice terraces. From De Grote Markt to Scheveningen and the smaller cafes on the smaller squares in between.
Here you can find the best terraces in The Hague:
September
Where? De Grote Markt
Why? Best snack: Cheese-Jalapeno bitterbal
September is a nice cafe at De Grote Markt. They serve bistro food and beers and have a great terrace. My favorite snack they serve is their Cheese-Jalapeno bitterbal. It’s a cheesy and spicy mini croquette that matches great with a cold beer. Rather go for dinner? Their Cajun-style cheese fondue I can also highly recommend with a glass of nice Riesling wine.
Little V
Where? Rabbijn Maarsenplein
Why? The best lunch dish is their Streetfood lunchbox
Little V is a Vietnamese restaurant that serves amazing Vietnamese street food. They also have an amazing terrace outside with a lot of space and when it’s cold they have heaters and blankets as well. I love to order their Streetfood lunchbox. In the little boxes/cups you find the best dishes from their menu. I order this every time I go here, together with one of their ice teas. They have a great drinking menu as well: with cocktails, iced teas, and Vietnamese coffees.
Beachclub BIRDS
Where? Kijkduin/Zuiderstrand
Why? On a more quiet area at the beach with great views.
I discovered Beachclub BIRDS last year via Instagram. I found out it’s quite close to where I live (at least closer than Scheveningen) and it has the same vibe as one of my favorite beach clubs in Noordwijk. Beachclub BIRDS is great for a drink stop during a beach walk and a great place for dinner in the evening after a summer day. I had their burrata salad and spareribs.
Bleyenberg
Where? Grote Markt
Why? Rooftop bar with a view over de Grote Markt
Bleyenberg is located close to de Grote Markt and has 5 floors with on top an amazing Rooftop Bar. You can find a coffee bar, a restaurant, a cocktail bar, meeting spaces, and also a club in the basement. You can basically come here in the morning for breakfast or a coffee and decide to stay until the evening.
In comparison to the other cafes and terraces at de Grote Markt, Bleyenberg is quite new to the mix. I love to come here with friends to have Gin Tonics on the Rooftop and have a look over the city center.Â
I hope the weather will clear up soon, so we can enjoy the beautiful terraces again. On Saturday I’m going to Little V to enjoy their Lunchboxes and my favorite drink: Dragon Lady.
What are your favorite terraces in your neighborhood or The Hague? Please share, since I’m always looking for new places to discover.
